ESB Dance Programs
The Edmonton School of Ballet offers an extensive range of classes for all ages and skill levels in a variety of different genres including ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop, lyrical, flamenco and musical theatre.
Junior Ballet Program
ESB offers introductory creative dance and ballet for starting at age 3. Our Junior Ballet grades are designed for fun and interesting classes while learning progressive ballet technique.
This challenging program offers extensive performance opportunities. For students in Junior 3 to Cecchetti Grade 4
By audition only, students in Junior 3 to Cecchetti 4 are offered extensive performing experiences and a comprehensive training program to challenge dancers seeking more challenge and commitment. The program includes classes in a variety of disciplines.
Vimy Ridge Dance Academy
The Vimy Dance program is an integrated academic and intensive dance training program for students in grades 7 -12. Acceptance into the program is by audition only. Learn more about visiting us at our website or book a shadow day. Students participate in daily training and participate in both performances and festivals.
Adult Ballet Classes
Want to get in shape? Looking for something new and exciting in your exercise program? Our adult classes in ballet, jazz, modern, tap and flamenco are a great way to have fun, stay active and learn about the arts!

Margaret Flynn completed her early training in ballet and modern with Laine Mets in Edmonton and founded the Wetaskawin School of Ballet at age eleven. She founded the Edmonton School of Ballet in 1967 and began dance schools in other Alberta centers. Mrs. Flynn danced professionally in many musicals and light operas. She advanced her teacher training at the National Ballet School of Canada.
Margaret’s passion for dance influenced countless young people to purse dance. She developed training programs and syllabi for young dancers used by teachers throughout Canada. She was a founding and lifetime member of Alberta Dance Educators Association, and has and served on numerous boards. Margaret was elected to serve on the national council of the Cecchetti Society of Canada and is a lifetime member. In recognition of her dedication to the arts and community service, Mrs. Flynn has received numerous accolades, including the City of Edmonton Cultural Award and the YMCA Tribute to Women award. She was inducted into the Wetaskiwin Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
Many of her graduates have been inspired by Mrs. Flynn to embark on careers as professional dancers and teachers. Her expertise and influence have extended throughout Canada and the world.
